History
The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) began in 1991 in the United Kingdom, created to support the growing community of IT professionals seeking structured approaches to service delivery and governance. As ITSM matured into a global discipline, the need for coordinated international efforts led to the formation of itSMF International in 2004. This umbrella body now guides and connects over 50 national chapters, representing more than 6,000 member companies and 40,000 professionals worldwide.
Malaysia joined this global movement in the early 2000s with the establishment of itSMF Malaysia, aligning with international standards while addressing local industry needs. The chapter has contributed to professional development, certification adoption, and knowledge sharing across sectors. Now entering a renewed phase of growth, itSMF Malaysia is reaffirming its commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive community that empowers practitioners, elevates service management practices, and supports Malaysia’s digital transformation journey.
